Setting the Standard: Hplex Wins Big with BOMA TOBY Awards
Excellence in property management isn't just about keeping the lights on; it's about creating an environment where businesses thrive, tenants feel valued, and sustainability is a priority. At Hplex, we believe that superior management transforms a building into a community asset.
We are incredibly proud to announce that this commitment to excellence has been recognized on a grand stage. The Walnut Creek Wellness Center, managed by Hplex, has received the prestigious BOMA TOBY Award for Medical Office Building, and our very own Kellie VanBlarcom, Director of Property Management, has been named the 2025 BOMA Columbus Building Manager of the Year.
These accolades are not just trophies on a shelf, they are a testament to the hard work, strategic vision, and day-to-day dedication of our entire team.
What is a TOBY Award?
The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY®) Award is the most prestigious and comprehensive program of its kind in the commercial real estate industry. It recognizes quality in commercial buildings and rewards excellence in building management.
Winning a TOBY Award is no small feat. During the competition, all facets of a building's operations are thoroughly evaluated. Judges look far beyond the aesthetics of a lobby. They dive deep into the operational engine of the property, assessing:
· Community Involvement: How the building impacts and serves its local area.
· Tenant Relations: The programs and communication strategies that keep occupants happy and productive.
· Site Management: The effectiveness of maintenance, security, and safety protocols.
· Environmental Policies: The commitment to green practices, sustainability, and energy efficiency.
The competition consists of three rigorous levels. It begins at the BOMA local association level, where the Walnut Creek Wellness Center has now triumphed. Winning entries advance to the regional level and, finally, regional winners compete at the BOMA International level.
A Win for Walnut Creek Wellness Center
The Walnut Creek Wellness Center stands as a prime example of modern healthcare real estate done right. This facility isn't just a collection of medical offices; it is a vital hub for community health, housing essential services ranging from primary care to specialized medical services.
Securing the TOBY Award for this property highlights our team's success in several key areas:
· Operational Efficiency: Implementing advanced building automation systems to optimize energy use without compromising comfort.
· Tenant Satisfaction: Creating a responsive environment where maintenance requests are handled swiftly and communication is transparent.
· Safety and Wellness: Upholding rigorous standards for cleanliness, air quality, and security—critical factors in a healthcare setting.
This award validates our holistic approach to property management. We don't just manage square footage; we manage the experience of every patient, doctor, and staff member who walks through the doors.
Celebrating Leadership: Kellie VanBlarcom
